A Comparative Study between Sand- and Gravel-Bed Open Channel Flows in the Wake Region of a Bed-Mounted Horizontal Cylinder

In nature, environmental and geophysical flows frequently encounter submerged cylindrical bodies on a rough bed. The around the bed are very complicated as flow field in these cases will be function of roughness apart from diameter cylinder velocity. addition, sand-bed has different effects compared to gravel-bed due differences heights. Therefore, main objective this article is compare mean velocities turbulent properties wake region horizontal bed-mounted over with that gravel-bed. Three experimental runs, two for one similar physical hydraulic conditions, were recorded fulfil purpose. Acoustic Doppler Velocimetry (ADV) probe was used measuring three-dimensional (3D) instantaneous velocity data. This comparative study shows magnitude streamwise velocity, Reynolds normal stress, shear stress reduced sand-bed. Conversely, vertical higher than
